FAQs
Do you offer consultations?
We offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to potential clients to discuss their presenting issues and any questions they might have about therapy.
I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own. Aren’t people who go to therapy weak?
Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the ability to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. You already have some strengths that you’ve used before, that for whatever reason isn’t working right now. Perhaps this problem feels overwhelming and is making it difficult to access your past strengths. In our work together, we will help you identify what those strengths are and how to implement them again in what is happening now.
How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?
Because each person has different issues and goals for therapy, therapy will be different depending on the individual. We tailor my therapeutic approach to your specific needs.
How long is a therapy session?
We typically meet with clients for a 50-minute session.
I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?
We are so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation and dedication will be crucial to your success. It’s the work you do outside of our sessions that will really help you see your personal growth and development.
Is your office near public transportation?
Yes, our office is walking distance from Chapel Hill’s bus routes. There is also free public parking.
How do I start therapy?
First, you should contact us today to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your presenting issues. If we feel that we can assist you in addressing your presenting issues, an initial evaluation (intake) will be scheduled. The initial evaluation will be at least 50 minutes long. We will verify and email you information about your co-payment, co-insurance, and/or deductible before the initial evaluation. We will also email your office paperwork to be filled out before the initial evaluation. When working with children and adolescents, we will usually meet with their parents or caregivers for the initial evaluation. During the initial evaluation, we will discuss your presenting issues, treatment goals, and office paperwork. We will schedule additional therapy appointments during the session.
